Overview

The original Key integrated an 83mm conical burr set into the most compact, space-saving design possible.

The Mk.2 marks an evolutionary step in the development of the Key by introducing significant usability and workflow upgrades while maintaining the same footprint as the original version.

The burrs and mount define the width of the Key, so it takes up a fraction of the space required by grinders with burrs only a fraction of the size.

83mm Burrs

The Key is built around the massive 83mm conical burr set. We source our burrs exclusively from Mazzer, but apply our own unique secondary processes to partially season them so they are usable out of the box, and then seal in the edge with a life-prolonging and completely food safe TiN coating. Perfect for the single-dosing café or home.

Mk. II UPDATES

50% Increased Torque

50% Increased Torque

The Mk. II boasts a massive 50% increase in torque from its predecessor, achieved through a combination of a new gearing system and higher current power supply. The Mk. II can effortlessly grind through extremely light roasts and even green coffee, though we don't recommend it, at fine settings, and at the lowest RPM (30 RPM).

Magnetic Dust Cover

Magnetic Dust Cover

A redesigned, knurled cover sits atop a 30% larger loading chamber, with a ~40g capacity. The cover is made up of two sides that can lift apart, or be magnetically held above the loading chamber while beans are added. Once loaded, the cover easily drops back down into place to prevent any coffee fragments from bouncing out.

Customizable Wood Accents

Customizable Wood Accents

The Key Mk. II's wooden platen and brush handle are now customizable. The Mk. II ships with Oak wood accents, but the accents can easily be replaced for Walnut or Teak to match near any interior design.

The Bean Feeder mechanism is now integral to the design, ensuring even loading rates throughout the grind, critical for perfect single-dosing. The mechanism now houses a bottom bearing to maintain factory alignment without needing adjustments.

Updated Magic Tumbler™

Updated Magic Tumbler™

We've updated the Magic Tumbler for the Key Mk.II. The updated design features anti-static plates, and an additional, replaceable paper wiper to ensure minimal grind retention, well below 0.1g. In tests, we've found retention to be below the range most coffee scales are capable of measuring.

Magic Tumbler Wiper Installation

The Key with Magic Tumbler will arrive with the Magic Tumbler installed, but not the integrated Weiss Distribution Technique (WDT) wiper. We've put together the following video to help with installation. You'll need the included 5mm Hex Key included in the box, the included stainless steel retaining washer, the wiper itself, and a bit less than 5 minutes.

Maintenance and Cleaning

The KEY has been designed from the start to be both simple and easy to clean. No tools, and a full clean in seconds, not hours.

The lower funnel is held in place by 12 strong rare earth magnets and can be removed with a simple twist of the wrist. Once exposed, remove the cone burr with the included wrench and drop it out to gain access to the outer burr. At this point, both burrs can be brushed clean in seconds. A few strokes with the brush that's always ready to deploy removes any stray coffee grounds and the included blower can be used to clear out what you may have left behind.

We believe that a good product is a clean product, and designing them to be easy to clean is fundamental to improving the quality of your coffee and the hygiene of your countertop.
