Overview

With the Unifilter we created a portafilter revolution. Weber Workshops is extending that concept to the Unibasket®, utilizing the same construction and improvements on extraction that the Unifilter brought, but in a “drop-in” basket form. Now available in 4 basket sizes, including an industry-first whopping 28g megafilter.

The Unibasket is a portafilter basket created from a single, thick piece of stainless steel. Whereas typical baskets are made from thin wafers, the Unibasket is forged from a 1.2mm thick blank of metal. The added thickness greatly improves the rigidity of the puck during extraction by reducing bottom face flex, a common cause of puck cracking and channeling during extraction.

Materials

The Unibasket® is made from a solid piece of Stainless 304 material. All of the holes are individually laser-ablated and go right up to the vertical wall edge, giving a true 58.5mm puck from top to bottom. Technology invented by Weber Workshops, these are made with inimitable quality and craftsmanship. Accept no substitutes.

Now made for anywhere from 16g ~28g shots spread amongst 4 sizes (and all +/- ~1g with use or elimination of puck screen).

  • 1 Retaining Spring (for use with standard 58mm portafilter body)

Compatibility

  • The height of the Unibasket® varies by size. If the existing basket in your spouted portafilter is shorter than that, the Unibasket may interfere with the bottom of the group handle.
  • The Unibasket is optimized for use with our own BUCK which can be seen here. Your naked portafilter might be wide and deep enough to accommodate the Unibasket®, but it's not BUCK naked. Tapering at the bottom might be inset enough to catch drips from the outer most holes on the basket, making for a slightly messy brewing experience. Ensure that the bottom opening on your group handle is 61mm or wider.
  • The Unibasket® will fit most bottomless group handles. It is NOT COMPATIBLE with bottomless group handles by ECM, Slayer, Gaggia, Rancillio, Breville. La Marzocco Linea Mini R and Micra portafilter wall thickness has been increased, making it difficult or impossible to press 20g-28g Unbasket in. On Lelit and Rocket, Unibasket fits but flow catches on bottom opening.

Used in conjunction with Weber's EPFs (Espresso Paper Filter) and the included puck screen, you can unlock more from your espresso shot than has ever been possible. Improving your extraction means less wasted shots, and that in turn means less wasted coffee.

Coffee extractions look different on the Unibasket than a standard portafilter, and this is good. Say goodbye to the "rat tail" and say hello to the "syrup rain." A stiffer bottom section means that the bottom surface doesn't bulge out and converge all of the streams, giving you greater visibility into what's actually happening in your puck.
