Overview

Polymer BEAN CELLARS® in our newer SHORTY style designed specifically for filter brews and a slightly higher 30g capacity. Stack them, freeze them, use them how you want. Now in 2 colors: FROSTED and CARBON. 

Each BPA-free, hard-wearing polypropylene Bean Cellar is capped with our proprietary one-way valve system that allows the CO2 of freshly roasted coffee to outgas, displacing the lighter oxygen out of the valve at the top of the cap. Light vs. Air

Many customers ask us if light will affect the storage of the beans. The short answer is "no," as long as they are not stored in direct sunlight. From our experience and tests, as well as to the testament of our customers, the negative effects of opening and closing a vessel and re-exposing them to fresh air is several orders of magnitude more damaging to bean freshness than ambient light in a room. If you're still worried about it, the CARBON color is completely opaque and will block out all ambient light.

Made for the bar, made for the freezer. There's no better way to store your fancy coffee long term than by single-dosing, freezing, and using as you go. We even created an open-source 3D printable, stackable tray design you can download by clicking here.

We designed the SHORTY cellars to be super flexible on the bar, without needing racks. Stack them on top of each other, create your own rows of single origins, play a game of gesha jenga. The world is your oyster.

To color our plastics, we use one key element to make things black. Carbon. The same stuff you light your BBQ with, often used as a food-additive itself and as an agent for removing unwanted chemicals. This is added to 100% virgin polypropylene resin to create the safest black polymer out there.

Premium, safe materials

Premium, safe materials

We start with only virgin, 100% food-safe Polypropylene raw material. The antithesis of a forever chemical, it is widely used in the food industry as a highly recyclable and highly food-safe choice. It also works great for freezing. Our gaskets and valves are food-safe TPE rubber, molded directly onto the cap body for peak performance.

There's a seemingly never-ending debate in the coffee world about using vacuums to store coffee. Vacuums tends to pull out and discard exactly the aromatic qualities that we love in fresh coffees -- exactly we want in our cup. The CO2 gas given off with freshly-roasted coffee, denser than Oxygen, can be used to push out the Oxygen from the 1-way valve, keeping your coffee fresher for longer.
